What is your biggest success?
Our biggest success as a start-up has been establishing Dignified Dispute Resolution as a trusted, innovative platform that addresses complex family and business conflicts with empathy and professionalism—despite being a new entrant in the market.
When we founded the company, we recognized a critical gap in how high-net-worth families and family businesses manage disputes, often complicated by emotions, history, and loyalty. Naazneen’s visionary leadership and expertise in conflict resolution enabled us to create tailored, effective processes that combine active listening, family governance, and mediation techniques.
One concrete milestone was successfully facilitating various focus groups and webinars on conflict and conflict resolution. Naazneen ability to build trust with potential clients has resulted in DDR starting to build a reputation as a trusted partner to wealth managers and family offices.
Our success lies not only in the tangible results for our clients but also in how we have built a business culture rooted in our core values of Honesty, Integrity and Purpose—qualities that distinguish us in a competitive field. Naazneen’s ability to lead with both strategic insight and emotional intelligence has been instrumental in this achievement.
As a rising star, Naazneen embodies the values of resilience, creativity, and impact, positioning Dignified Dispute Resolution for sustainable growth and meaningful contribution to the family business ecosystem and ensuring that mediation becomes a mainstream solution to conflict, rather than parties having to resort to litigation, especially for those who cannot afford this.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Our biggest hurdle is breaking into a market that is guarded by gatekeepers. Whilst we are developing strong relationships built on trust, this is extremely slow going. We started with zero funds, other than our own small savings and without bringing in income, we are not able to have sales and marketing materials printed or employ someone to do the sales and marketing for us.
Getting introductions to the right people in the right places within organisations is key to DDR's success.
Our ultimate dream for DDR is to establish mediation centres across South Africa offering free mediation services to all, regardless of socioeconomic status. This requires funding for DDR Foundation NPC.
