Kushinda Group
What does your company do?
Kushinda Group is a versatile organisation comprised of two key entities: Kushinda Caterers and Kushinda Academy. Kushinda Caterers, established in 2013, specialises in providing exceptional catering services specifically to the film and television industry, ensuring productions enjoy outstanding culinary experiences. Concurrently, Kushinda Academy, launched in December 2023, is a fully accredited institution focused on training the future generation of chefs. It offers a range of comprehensive programmes, including long-term chef training and short-term courses for skill enhancement, catering to both aspiring chefs and seasoned professionals. Our unified mission is to deliver unrivalled service and education through innovation, quality, and unwavering commitment, setting new standards within the catering and culinary education industries.
What is your biggest success?
One of my greatest successes has been my journey with Kushinda Group, which has taught me resilience and dedication. Launching Kushinda Academy in 2023 stands as a significant milestone. I am particularly proud that I was able to save up and fully fund the programme independently, demonstrating a strong commitment to educational excellence in culinary arts. Despite the changing economic environment, I have successfully sustained and grown Kushinda Caterers, delivering specialised catering services to the film and television industry since 2013. A pivotal moment came in 2018 when I left my job to focus exclusively on nurturing and expanding my business. This decision allowed me to dedicate my full attention to the growth and development of both entities, transforming them into influential presences in their respective fields. Witnessing the growth and impact of Kushinda Group has been incredibly rewarding, affirming the passion and effort invested.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Leaving my stable job to pursue my passion with Kushinda Group was fueled by meticulous planning and a vision of seamless transition. However, this journey confronted unexpected challenges as initial projects fell through, testing my resilience in ways I hadn’t anticipated. The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic further complicated these struggles, demanding unparalleled adaptability. Yet, the most daunting challenge emerged as I launched Kushinda Academy while striving to sustain Kushinda Caterers. Balancing rising operational costs and the complexities of running both entities without compromising on quality was formidable. The financial pressures were immense, especially with the goal of not letting go of any staff members. Retaining our dedicated team amidst economic uncertainties highlighted my commitment to the people who make our success possible. Navigating these intertwined challenges has been my biggest hurdle, but it also underscored my resolve and ability to persevere through difficult times.
