Our unique approach focuses on merging business prowess, namely; growth-hacking, business strategy and marketing - with the often neglected soft-skills such as self-discovery, leadership, and personal empowerment, helping our suppliers, clients and collaborators unlock their full potential in both business and life.
As women in business and mothers ourselves, we quickly realised that there wasn’t a space addressing the unique, holistic needs of women - not only in business or corporate environments but across every facet of life. Women needed a place to have brave conversations about money, wealth, business, and the personal aspects that shape us.
Understanding that networth is directly linked to self-worth, we birthed The Brave Collective. The Brave Collective, Faith and Fear’s dedicated women’s empowerment Corporate Social Investment (CSI) arm, is a powerful not-for-profit community built to inspire, support, and uplift South African women. It is run by a passionate group of five ladies, namely Iris Fynn, Unathi Kondile, Shannon Richards, Taryn Sharman and Perri King.
The Brave Collective offers specialised events, networking opportunities, and practical resources designed specifically for women in the workplace and entrepreneurial spaces. By creating a safe and inclusive environment, The Brave Collective allows women to tackle hard topics, build wealth, and invest in what truly matters to them.
Together, Faith and Fear and The Brave Collective are united by a shared vision to cultivate an inclusive, vibrant culture that champions the needs of women holistically, responding to the challenges we're experiencing daily and inspires lasting change for generations to come.
Perri King, MD of Faith and Fear, together with The Brave Collective, proudly submits this nomination for the Rising Woman
What is your biggest success?
For me, our greatest success isn’t just what we’ve built—it’s how we’ve built it.
We’ve proven that it’s possible to lead with empathy, flexibility, and integrity—and still deliver exceptional results. In an industry that often rewards hustle over humanity, we’ve chosen a different path. One that prioritises real relationships, long-term thinking, and doing business in a way that feels good and does good.
One of my proudest achievements is the ecosystem we’ve created for women to grow and thrive. From our core team to our extended supplier network, to the women who find their voice through The Brave Collective—we’ve made space for women to be fully themselves, while also building wealth and impact.
We’ve also built a business that reflects our values, not just our skill sets. We've prioritised flexibility without compromising performance. We’ve worked with brilliant clients who share our purpose. And we’ve done it all while staying small, smart, and brave.
Our success is in the lives we’ve touched, the careers we’ve helped shape, the courage we’ve sparked—and the fact that we’ve done it together, without losing who we are.
That, to me, is legacy work.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
One of the biggest hurdles for me was unlearning the rules I thought I had to follow.
Coming from traditional agency and corporate environments, I was conditioned to believe that success looked a certain way: structured teams, fixed hours, big boardrooms, and even bigger egos. So when we set out to build Faith and Fear, it was both exciting and terrifying to break away from that.
The idea of doing things differently - working remotely, trusting instinct over bureaucracy, building a business around people instead of profit - felt radical at the time. There was no playbook. And as much as I believed in our vision, I also had to fight the internal voice that asked, “Are we doing enough? Are we doing it right?”
Letting go of that old definition of success - and replacing it with one rooted in purpose, freedom, and trust - was a deeply personal journey.
But now, looking back, I see that was the whole point.
The very thing that felt like the hurdle… became the unlock.
