Rimas Interiors is a cornerstone in Interior Design and furniture creation. Founded by Shameema Imandin, a passionate homemaker, the business began modestly with the trade of ornaments, evolving into the beloved brand it is today. The company crafts luxurious, heirloom-quality furniture, handling projects from simple ottomans to avant-garde homes. We empower women from all backgrounds, steering this female-driven enterprise. Women lead here, often directing men in production. Under Shameema's leadership, Rimas Interiors shatters norms, proving that Women of Colour can excel in a male-dominated field while embracing roles as wives, daughters, mothers, and grandmothers, among many others.
What is your biggest success?
We've secured numerous accolades, like the ECR House and Garden Gold Medal and the PMR Africa Diamond Awards, both several times. Rimas Interiors has graced the pages of countless magazines, furnishing the homes of DJs, politicians, and the latest influencers. Years of dedication led us to establish two factories for locally crafted furniture. Our triumph lies in the young talents we've nurtured to continue our legacy. Empowering women from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve greatness—moving overseas, starting businesses, buying homes, and supporting their families—is our greatest success. Watching the entire community and village flourish is truly rewarding.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Juggling the demands of a thriving business while being a devoted mother to my children and grandchildren, caring for my parents and in-laws, and embracing my femininity as a quintessential wife has been my greatest challenge. All this, as I contend with health issues like Lupus
