What does your company do?
Resolve Cleaning Services is a commercial cleaning services company. We service within the commercial, industrial, construction and hospitality industries, and have always been mindful of our carbon footprint.
We offer a holistic approach via contract cleaning and hygiene services, supported by specialized services, such as Dry and Biodegradable carpet cleaning, upholstery, high level, windows and machine floor cleaning and restoration - to pest control, waste management, recycling and handy man services.
It may seem like an extensive range, however we are quite specific and intentional.
Our longest standing client relationship was 15 years, and staff relationship was 12 years. Our average staff tenure was 9 years.
I say was, because we are currently, transitioning our business model, splitting into divisions. Based on the needs I have recognized within the industry and beyond.
What is your biggest success?
For me, my biggest success is that I am an entrepreneur, still.
I pride myself in my decades of real entrepreneurial experience and that i am still learning. We build, navigate, overcome, persevere. We show up.
My founding business is 21 years old. The separate division founded 3 years ago. I co-owned a 16 bedroom, 80 seater restaurant, boutique hotel for 4 years during this entire tenure.
Resolve Cleaning Services increasing its turnover since inception each year by at least 30% based on word of mouth marketing. Achieved ISO certification in 2018', as an SME. At the height of financial success, within 3 months, our annual t/o reduced to more than 50%. This is pre pandemic. Then pandemic. Incorrect partnerships. I can throw a list.
Therefore i measure my success as an entrepreneur, in my journey, achievement despite life challenges, and look forward to future impact. To the further impactful transition in the business, using technology, and innovation.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
In looking back, the biggest hurdle was support. Support in navigating the journey. As a business owner, i taught myself what i needed to know. I had to learn by process of elimination. Learn on the job to costings etc and profit margins. As I made profits or scaled, i did not receive the proper support in peers or organizations to navigate. Sometimes very hard lessons to learn.
I feel that the perception in and of our sector, is also non supportive. As if we are 'not as important' in the ecosystem. Yet, we are vitally important, skilled professionals that keep our clients safe. And we impact job creation and sustainability.
Hence i am stepping to support our industry and fellow entrepreneurs with areas I experienced needed attention. To be the individual or business i needed, when i started or scaled or experienced challenges.
From within empowering our staff, with sustainability, training and access to job markets, to other entrepreneurs and businesses via support, mentoring, training and market share. That's my personal purpose.
