What is your biggest success?
My biggest success has been creating and successfully launching Spot Natural, a proudly South African hair care brand focused on natural, effective solutions for textured hair. What started as a passion project at my lowest point—unemployed and living in an uncomfortable situation—has grown into a thriving brand with loyal customers who consistently see real results. The launch of my first digital product, ProFormulate, an ebook teaching others how to make their own hair care products, was another turning point. Not only did it generate income, but it also empowered aspiring beauty entrepreneurs to build their own brands. Through sheer determination, I’ve built a brand that inspires and serves others, while staying true to my values of authenticity, empowerment, and wellness. Seeing customers confidently embrace their natural hair and entrepreneurs launch their own products using my guidance—that’s the success I’m most proud of.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest hurdle has been overcoming self-doubt and financial instability while trying to build a business from scratch. When I started Spot Natural, I had no funding, no job, and was living in a difficult environment. Every day felt like a battle between survival and vision. I had big dreams, but limited resources and overwhelming responsibilities as a mother. What kept me going was my purpose—to create something meaningful for women like me. I faced failed dropshipping attempts, imposter syndrome, and the pressure of trying to stay consistent while juggling life. But I didn’t give up. I taught myself digital marketing, product formulation, and content creation with no formal training. Every setback made me sharper, more resourceful, and more in tune with what my audience truly needed. That resilience became the foundation of my brand, and it’s what continues to carry me forward.
