Enchor Cinema is a mobile outdoor cinema company that brings unique movie experiences to communities, schools, corporate events, and public spaces across South Africa. We set up large outdoor screens and create safe, family-friendly environments where people can enjoy films under the stars. Our services include event planning, sound and visual setup, and collaboration with local vendors to offer food, drinks, and entertainment. We aim to promote social connection, support local businesses, and provide accessible, memorable entertainment experiences for all ages.
What is your biggest success?
My biggest success as a woman entrepreneur of Enchor Cinema has been creating a unique platform that brings communities together through outdoor cinema experiences. Starting with limited resources, I built a brand that not only entertains but also supports local vendors and promotes family-friendly, safe environments. Successfully partnering with municipalities, private venues, and small businesses has been a highlight, showcasing our ability to collaborate and uplift others. One of our proudest moments was hosting a fully booked event that blended film, food, and fun — proving that our vision resonates with diverse audiences. Leading this initiative as a woman has empowered me to inspire others, especially young women, to pursue their entrepreneurial goals despite challenges. Every event we host is a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much impact we can make by staying true to our mission. It’s more than business — it’s community and purpose.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest hurdle as a woman entrepreneur at Enchor Cinema has been securing consistent funding and sponsorships to scale our events. As a new and creative concept in the South African entertainment space, it was challenging to convince stakeholders to invest in outdoor cinema, especially during uncertain economic times. Limited resources meant I had to multitask, take on multiple roles, and often work without a full team. Additionally, balancing business demands with family responsibilities tested my resilience. However, these challenges pushed me to become more resourceful, build strong partnerships, and maintain a clear vision. Each hurdle taught me valuable lessons in persistence, planning, and the importance of building a supportive network. Today, I’m proud that Enchor Cinema continues to grow and create meaningful, memorable experiences despite the obstacles.
