Sqimntwana Projects is a licensed construct company and we offer Civil Construction (Roads & Bridges) and General Building (Commercial & Residential)
What is your biggest success?
The biggest success for Sqimntwana Projects, to name a few is, employing and empowering a full-time team that produces great work and feeding their families. That on its own bring joy to myself. A team of 21 full-time employees that includes 9 female and 12 male employees. Another success is that we've grown fast as a company. In 10 years we've managed to do so many projects that made us grow from Grade 1 to Grade 4 in the CIDB Grading. Some projects that brought success to name a few is, working on the N2 road with Sanral as a Subcontractor for the routine road maintenance for a period of 3 years, another project was supplying water at 2 different Municipalities, namely, Ilembe District Municipality and Msunduzi District Municipality. And also having a project to construct a bridge from scratch in thw KwaDukuza Municipality. Finally, having to employ more female employees to the company.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Like many other companies, our biggest hurdle was the Covid-19 pandemic. Having to overcome it and still stand firm and not having to close the company was the biggest hurdle we faced. Also, as a woman in a male dominated industry, a hurdle i faced was the perception that women can't be in the Construction Industry, but being that I've opened my company in 2014, 11 years later, I'm proud to say, I'm still standing strong and my company, through my leadership, is recognized in the KwaDukuza Municipality and Ilembe District Municipality.
