What does your company do?
Northern Cape (NC) Connect as a 100% black woman owned SMME and has a management and technical team that is able to ensure that daily operations are carried out expeditiously and ensure necessary quality standards. Our company installs IT infrastructure and is able to give communities data and internet in their homes at cheapest rates. Our network is designed and built on experience, a network for the People. We are building a 100% black female owned Internet Service Providers (ISP) which will enter the market with the cheapest rates. Our reseller model is based on using SMME's and local businesses in rural communities. Our main objective is to connect people and allow for Internet of things services to run over the network. We are bringing a different value proposition to the existing providers and this being building a unique network custom designed for that community which brings new opportunities to the people. Our R5 voucher per day uncapped price will be unbeatable for a very long time as well as the R350 Mbps fixed wireless connection for homes. Our target market is the rural areas and townships where there is little or no connectivity and that is where the 76% unconnected people live.
What is your biggest success?
We have been appointed on SA Connect which is a government initiative and we have bee given 300 hotspots to the value of R1500000.00. The company will make its first million this year.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Cost of business has meant that we have to employ less people and deploy less infrastructure to survive. Growth is slower as a result
