What is your biggest success?
But through dedication, consistency, and a deep passion for justice, I earned the trust and respect of clients, colleagues, and government officials alike.
I come from humble beginnings and have never been handed anything on a silver platter. I worked and studied at the same time and at one stage, I was juggling three jobs just to afford my tuition and living expenses. That experience shaped my resilience and taught me the value of hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance. Today, I’m proud not only to have built a successful legal practice, but also to be in a position where I can take care of my parents and support my family, something that means the world to me.
Over the past two decades, I’ve built a legal practice that focuses on immigration and citizenship law, a space where the human impact of legal decisions is felt deeply and personally. I’ve led cases that have helped change immigration laws in South Africa, expanding access to justice for those born here, and for those who have made this country their home.
In 2025, I was deeply honoured to be appointed by the Minister of Home Affairs to serve on the Immigration Advisory Board, a national body responsible for advising on immigration policy. This appointment recognizes not only my legal expertise, but my ongoing commitment to contributing meaningfully to South Africa’s future.
My work has always been about more than just legal victories. It’s about protecting dignity, advocating for fairness, and ensuring that even the most vulnerable voices are heard. I’m proud to be a thought leader in this complex and ever-evolving field and even prouder to do so as a woman, a mother, a daughter, and a role model to my family. I want them and especially the younger generation to know that no dream is too big, no background too humble, and no obstacle too great when you stay true to your values and believe in your purpose.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Breaking through a system not built for me, overcoming the barriers of a male-dominated legal field, building a business from scratch without financial privilege, and fighting for recognition and respect while carrying the responsibility of supporting my family.
