Megaroads & Civils Pty ltd
What does your company do?
We specialising in road marking, traffic accommodation and training. Females who are making a real impact on road safety, in the construction industry where women are still the minority. We are a CIDB grade seven which puts us in a position to handle projects across the country, with specialised skills and a strong track record. 2 Years ago we realised that there is nowhere for someone to get trained to be a road marker, so we developed an accredited NQF2 skills development course to aid unemployed youth and small businesses who needed new skills.
What is your biggest success?
Our biggest success has been staying consistent in our quality to a point where we were awarded a contract worth over R100mil. We have reached a grade 7 CIDB grading and were entrusted with the entire NW provincial roads. It has been he biggest lesson yet, firstly as a black female owned business to reach this level and the ability to finish the work under VERY difficult circumstances. This contract has been our biggest lesson yet and has helped us learn valuable lessons that will help us work in a more modern and efficient way.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Our biggest hurdle has been accessing consistent financial resources to scale sustainably. As a "small" business that was given a huge contract, we’ve built everything from the ground up -reinvesting every bit of revenue, relying on sheer creativity, and stretching every shilling to make our mark. Dealing with construction mafia, corrupt employees, late and sometimes non payment, has really set us back. All the capital to investment received would help to get better infrastructure, marketing, or even inventory at scale - particularly in the training space, can go a long way.
We are now at a pivotal point where the right financial support could transform not just our operations, but the impact we have in our community and industry.
