What is your biggest success?
My biggest success was being accepted into the BeVisioneers: The Mercedes-Benz Fellowship, a prestigious global program that supports young innovators driving sustainability. This opportunity provided me with mentorship, resources, and a global network to grow my clean tech business. Additionally, I pitched my business at the Student Entrepreneurship Week Pitch Competition, where I placed in the top 10 out of many talented young entrepreneurs. This recognition earned me seed funding, which has been instrumental in developing the Green Smart Utility Machine and advancing my mission to create sustainable landscaping and cleaning solutions in South Africa.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
The biggest hurdle in developing the prototype of the Green Smart Utility Machine has been accessing sufficient funding to cover all aspects of the innovation process. While initial seed funding and support from programs like the BeVisioneers Fellowship have been invaluable, developing a clean tech prototype especially one that integrates solar power, AI automation, HEPA filtration, and water conservation requires significant investment. Balancing limited resources across research, design, hardware, testing, and compliance has been a major challenge. Despite this, we’ve made meaningful progress by maximizing available resources and forming strategic collaborations, but scaling to a fully functional, market-ready prototype remains financially demanding.
