What has been your biggest hurdle?
Financial constraints is a hurdle. Budgets of companies is a big hurdle in our business.
As a recruitment consultant my biggest hurdles are:
Unrealistic client expectations
Clients may want a "unicorn" candidate—someone with every skill, years of experience, at a low salary, and available immediately. Managing those expectations diplomatically is key but difficult.
Candidate ghosting or drop-offs
Even after rounds of interviews and positive signs, candidates can vanish or accept counter-offers. It’s frustrating and can damage trust with clients.
Speed vs. quality
Clients often want fast placements, but the best candidates usually require time to source, vet, and move through a process. Rushing can lead to poor fits and early drop-offs.
Market shifts
Talent markets change rapidly—what worked 6 months ago might not work now. Adapting sourcing strategies while keeping clients educated is a challenge.
Maintaining long-term relationships
Keeping clients and candidates happy over time, not just during a single placement, takes consistent communication and follow-up.
